Fees and Costs
Kids Spot Assessments are individually tailored to suit your child’s needs. When you call to book in for an assessment, our administration team will let you know how long the expected appointment will be and the subsequent costs involved.
Kids Spot charges the scheduled NDIS fee for all Speech Pathology services. If your child is seen off site there is also a designated travel fee.
Medicare
If your General Practitioner (GP) feels it is appropriate, you or your child may be placed on a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP)/ Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC), registered with Medicare. Generally, this enables you to claim back a portion of your therapy fees for 5 visits per year. If you or your child is placed on a CDMP, we need a copy of the plan so that we can prepare your invoice with the correct information. Once you have paid for the session, you can claim the Medicare Rebate using the MyGov App or online.
Private Health Insurance
You may be able to claim back a portion of your assessment or therapy fees using private health insurance. The claimable amount depends upon your insurance provider and your level of cover. We have a HICAPS machine, if you have your membership card present for your visit, we can process your rebate first, and then you pay the gap. If you access offsite services, we will process your payment in full and will then forward you a receipt to allow you to claim through your private health insurance. Please do not hesitate to contact us to ask for assistance or advice regarding any of the above.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with a disability so they can access more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills and an improved quality of life.
What does NDIS provide?
Access to funding so your child can attend therapy such as: Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, equipment, respite services and many other support services.
What is the process?
If you have concerns about your child’s development, you’ll need to speak to your child’s health or education professional. Concerns about your child’s development may include how they:
Play and move around
Do things to take care of themselves
Socialise with other children
Communicate what they want
Children younger than 6 years do not need a diagnosis to get support through the NDIS - Early Childhood Approach.
What if my child is older than 9 years?
The NDIS also supports children who are over 9 years of age if they have a disability. This occurs with the help of a local area coordination partner. Once you have made contact with the relevant organisation (see below) they will work with you to understand your child’s needs and help you apply for funding.
